Drei Groschen Oper – Three Penny Opera

The Three Pennie Opera is a play by Bertholt Brecht accompanied by the music of Kurt Weill. Within the study time at the Designschule Munich, an insert booklet was designed for the revival of the classic by the publisher Deutsche Grammophon. The task was to work with staged typography.

My way was to analyze each character of the opera and and give them a font that identifies visually with the character based on their characteristics. After reading for a while you feel like knowing the persons just through the font type. Some parts were highlighted by visually playing with the meaning of the sentences.
